Gourmet Spirulina aims to revolutionise the way people view and consume spirulina. For too long, consumers have viewed spirulina as a dietary supplement. It has been seen as either a handful of pills to be taken in the morning, or a powder to be mixed into the occasional smoothie when time permits. This has not always been the case. Throughout the ages, spirulina has been used as a daily wholefood ingredient, most notably by the Aztecs. This is not surprising given that high quality spirulina contains massive amounts of iron, beta-carotene, vitamin B12 and vitamin K .Gourmet Spirulina seeks to revive the traditional use of this superfood by offering the tastiest and most potent spirulina around.
Our three products, Nibs, Crunchies and Petals are of the highest quality, raw, culinary-grade spirulina. Sourced in Costa Rica and Burkina Faso, we pride ourselves on our strong fair trade partnerships with local suppliers. Our African partners even work on a humanitarian basis where half the spirulina is used locally. Our products are dried carefully at a temperature never exceeding 42°C; this means all nutritional content remains unharmed, and the flavour is uncomparably better than any spirulina you may know of.
To get the most from our spirulina, all you have to do is find a way to take one teaspoon full a day. This allows our customers to use Gourmet Spirulina anytime throughout the day, in cereals or porridge, sprinkled on salads or pastas, or used in countless ways during the cooking process itself. You can even take it raw, straight from the packet!
